I am working on resonant X-ray processes and their application to visualizing local electronic and geometric structures of X-ray absorbing atoms. In particular, I am interested in studying photo- and electrochemical reactions on various timescales. For example, resonant hard X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopies (XAS and RXES) have been used predominantly at X-ray free-electron laser facilities, to observe ultrafast dynamics in light-harvesting molecules. Recently, a higher energy resolution was achieved with a sufficient photon flux for time-resolved resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) experiments by introducing self-seeded hard X-ray pulses.
